My wife who had advanced Alzheimer’s had been a resident at a large institutional care facility but her stay there was not of good quality. She had several falls resulting in trips to the ER, one of her hearing aids was lost, several items went missing and even pieces of her clothing though all was clearly labeled.
After hearing the strong recommendation from a member of my Alzheimer’s support group, I was able to move her to Psalm 23 Assisted Living. The difference was like night and day! The care givers here were very attentive, cared for her well, medications were given on time. They adapted to her diet as it changed due to the progression of the disease. There were no more falls, no missing items; my family was well informed of any changes plus they were very accommodating when our adult children and I had weekly family time with her and with other weekly visits.
When my wife finally succumbed to the ravages of the disease, her passing was treated with caring, sensitivity and dignity. They were truly saddened by her death.
When we were no longer able to care for my father at home due to the progression of Alzheimer’s, my family and I evaluated three local facilities to care for him. My father lost the ability to walk, eat on his own, and care for himself. After our visits at the facilities, we selected Psalm 23 Assisted Living because the facility was homey, comfortable, and clean. Psalm 23 Assisted Living did not have the ‘smell’ we noticed at other facilities. My father has been in the facility for four years plus. Last year, my mother suffered multiple massive strokes and lost the ability to walk, see, hear, and swallow. We admitted her to Psalm 23 Assisted Living. The facility provided a room where my parents could share and be by each other until we lost my mother. The owner has been a great resource for hospice service referrals and any other medical related services my parents needed. The facility has been very accommodating to my family so we could visit my parents daily. Lastly, we can not thank the staff enough. The staff took great care of my mother and were saddened with her loss. The staff’s attention to details of caring for my father is extremely critical due to the progression of Alzheimer’s disease. They do an excellent job in following the doctor’s instructions making sure the food and fluid are always at a certain consistency, quantity, and the length of time required to feed my father. They also make sure to turn my father timely and apply the cream frequently to prevent bed sores. Thank you to Psalm 23 Assisted Living.
My dear mother has end stage Alzheimer’s and recently developed congestive heart failure. I was caring for my mom at home but it got to be too much on my bad back lifting, bending and dressing her. I began looking for a smaller place where mom could get more individualized care. When I met the manager she was very professional. We had a choice on where mom would be most comfortable. She has a private room with her own bathroom. My mom is on Hospice and was not receiving good care from a hospice company. The manger “Irma” really advocated for mom by insisting on better care. She was even able to find a more pro-active hospice company. BTW, the place is clean and the food is great! The care-givers are wonderful!

Thank you so much, Dennis. It was a pleasure taking care of your wife. We missed her, but she is in a much better place now.
